Abstract

In financial terms the European Union (EU) and its Member States are the most important global actor in development cooperation. This talk critically reviews EU development cooperation including recent developments in the volume of official development aid (ODA), the regional pattern of beneficiaries, and the structural composition of ODA with respect to main aims and activities. Moreover an outlook of the role of the EU in the implementation of the post-2015 global development agenda will be discussed.
