The Opening Reception of the EUAP took place in the lovely little terrace garden at HKBU on the evening of 2 May, marking the official launch of the programme. It was our pleasure to be joined by over 60 guests including honorable guests from the EU Office to HK and Macau, Consuls General of European countries and representatives of BU, CUHK & HKU, as well as other guests active in the commercial, cultural and academic sectors.

It was our luck that the rain stopped for a little while when the night started off when Prof. Rick Wong, Vice President of HKBU gave the opening speech, explaining the efforts by all parties in establishing the EUAP. He was followed by Mr. Vincent Piket, Head of the European Union Office to HK and Macao. Mr. Piket underlined the importance of the autonomy of the EUAP as an academic institution. The Director General of EUAP, Prof. Jean-Pierre Cabestan then introduced the various activities which the EUAP offers. Lastly, Prof. Cabestan awarded certificates to the five student winners of the first annual Hong Kong Model European Union 2013, our ‘flagship’ simulation of a European Council meeting involving over 30 participants, which had been held in April.
