Synopsis

The election of Donald Trump as president was an unpleasant surprise to many European leaders. Trump’s professed admiration for Putin, his declaration of the NATO’s obsolescence and his enthusiasm for Brexit, are hardly reassuring to Washington’s long-term European allies; not to mention Trump’s apparent informal personal style. Given these concerns, is the Transatlantic Partnership at stake? How should European leaders live up to such new challenges?
