Event Description:
Synopsis of Mr. Hellweg:
The presentation starts with a brief description of the system of assessment and certification in the building sector in Germany and elaborates three different subsystems:
– Mandatory rules and regulations
– Incentives and labelling
– Excellence certifications.
Some parallels to Chinese legislation and assessment systems are being drawn. It will be shown that Green Building Assessment and Certification systems can only be effective when they are imbedded in a comprehensive system, comprising mandatory, incentive and celebrating elements, and if evaluation during the operating process of the certified projects is mandatory.
In a second part, HafenCity Certifiation and IBA standards will be explained. Concluding some certified projects will be presented.
Synopsis of Prof. Chow:
The HKGBC Benchmarking and Energy Saving Tool (HK BEST) is a series of tools developed by Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), aiming to promote building energy efficiency. The HK BEST series targets at various categories, including office occupants (HK BESTOO) and office buildings (HK BESTOF). HK BESTOO is now available and applicable to multi-tenant office buildings, whereas HK BESTOF will be available in late 2015. As for each category, there are two sets of online tools, including a free benchmarking tool as well as a benchmarking and energy saving tool that recognises outstanding energy performance of buildings.
