PART I: [Public Seminar] From Urban Planning to Urbanetics – From ratios to real-time data: Urban Cybernetics
Event Description:
The paradigm of the industrial city, represented by the model of ratios, is being increasingly replaced with the concept of information city based on fluctuating data. The coexistence of these two models is currently presenting some challenges associated with the transformation from Urban Planning towards Urbanetics. This presentation provides key concepts to describe some of the problems and challenges related to this profound transformation. By suggesting some opportunities of implementing strategic new technology at the urban scale, cities can be re-conceived as open, complex and dynamic environment, with the capacity of being transformed into urban habitats that are smart and self-sufficient at the same time.
