studied politics and joined NABU (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union), Germany’s major environmental organization, in 2003. After working several years for the NABU federal association in Berlin, he is currently Head of Environmental Policy of the NABU Section Hamburg.  Being located in one of Europe’s largest port cities Malte Siegert mainly is responsible for infrastructural projects as well as ecological questions related to maritime issues. Since 2012 he has been involved in the EU LIFE+ funded project “Clean Air in Ports” (www.nabu.de/ports) as well as other NABU campaigns relating to cruise liners and container shipping. NABU organizes various events such as the “Maritime Exhaust-Round-Table”, where challenges and technical solutions are discussed with a wide range of maritime stakeholders.
