The new European Commission team led by Jean-Claude Juncker, approved by the European Parliament on 22 October 2014, will be taking office from 1 November.
Let’s have a look who’s who in the team and what they will be responsible for!
Jean-Claude Juncker became the Minister of Finance of Luxembourg in 1989, before being elected as Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance of the country in 1995. He was the President of the Eurogroup between 2005 and 2013.
The current President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, will be stepping down shortly, and here is his final speech at the European Parliament complemented by applause at the end.
