Presented by honorable guest – Professor Annick Masselot (Department of Accounting and Information Systems, University of Canterbury)

Biography:
Annick Masselot is an Associate Professor in law at the University of Canterbury (Department of Accounting and Information Systems), Christchurch, New Zealand. Her research interest lies in social and employment law, gender equality and equal treatment, reconciliation between work and family life, pregnancy and maternity rights in the context of the European Union and comparative law. She is the author of Reconciling Work and Family Life in EU Law and Policy, (2010) London: Palgrave Macmillan (with E. Caracciolo di Torella).

Abstract:
This paper aims to critically engage with the concepts of corporate quotas and gender equality. It will compare and contrast the application of such concepts within the EU legal framework and a number of Asia countries, including Malaysia and India.
