Event description:
Helsinki, capital city of Finland, has been in the global spotlight as being ‘smart’ and ‘open’. What does this mean?
Helsinki is indeed strategically focused on ‘openness’ and has built up a strong design orientation in the economy and in city life. In this context, the entire Helsinki Metropolitan Area is committed to ‘opening up data’ for anyone to use freely. This includes data underlying decision-making processes by and for the city and nearby communities, which can then by utilized by ever-more citizens in innovative ways. A key element behind the successful development of the Helsinki region is therefore a culture of agile and reliable cooperation between different stakeholders: public administration, universities and other public agencies, business, as well as the people themselves.
