When thinking about cities, many aspects are discussed, ranging from aspects related to infrastructure, architecture, culture, business and economy, tourist attractions, etc. one could say these are aspects that are viewed from the outside. If viewed from the inside on a social-economical level the very important dialog of social housing becomes central. Social Housing is the space of the city that is most precious for almost 50% of Hong Kong’s population. Considering that your home is your sanctuary a clearer understanding of the local situation is needed. The conducted workshop has researched the background of social housing in Hong Kong, it’s constraints and potentials. Relationships to other cities have been drawn in order to enter understand local aspects. Participants have joined into focus groups, such as historic development, policy development, architectural embodiment, social neighborhood creation and urban planning and infrastructure. During the two day workshop, students from local and overseas universities, local international schools and educators have worked together to identify the state of the art as compile an in depth picture to the topic. The results have been exhibited from two weeks with guided tours and welcomed more than 1000 visitors.
